sooo i haven't said anything for a while

LAST WEEEK of internship! been beading 1o hours each day going rather insane but all the lovely girls on my table mean my time goes by a little easier chatting away and munching on mini eggs below the table. I can't wait to see this dress finished it will be gorgeous so dramatic. Love swaroski's now after this experience particularly the less sparkly ones beads r nicee. Giles is set to make Rhianna a dress for the Brits which is cool. He is so polite whenever ive given him his fanta lemon or diet pepsi IN A CAN as they alllways stress to me before i trot of the the newsagents. I must stop gorging on chocolate so i may try detoxing this week as I said id do it with one of the other girls. we plan to have a meal this friday. Def must tke their numbers or fb's really clicked with them which has made my time at Giles so great. I really cant wait to see models coming in to try stuff on and for this last rush of fashion fun. Fixed Giles's necklace the otherday consisted of irish lucky charms on a 'gold' chuncky necklace..didnt think he was irish but his 2 assistants are perhaps they are his lucky charms. I reallly envy how fast and talented his pattern cutters are it's insane how quickly they make a garment and to perfection. Ill keep updating this maybe for every day of this week working the weekend too!!a rghhh lonnng week ahead of me. My new allsaints ebay dress is a perk.detox and last 8 day 10 hour a day week ...hit me ...but try not to  kill me if ud be so kind

sooo my work experience:

Worked on trims more...Chanel like trims to be distressed and so forth. We are given a lot of freedom with our samples only a brief outline is there and then we begin making my picking our own fabrics and arrangements. I twisted feathers into a swirl like effect I did this out of my own head and well they really liked it. I came in the next day to find the sample gone so I asked siobhan our mentor/boss and she said it had been pinned onto a toile !! so exciting. i told her I didnt mind in my chuffed voice :) and that day Alsye asked me to produce the same effect but in white and with finer feathers and she seemed very pleased with the result. I really feel appreciated and so lucky to be working for such a wonderfully polite and creative and organised studio. To be given so much free reign with our samples is exciting and we all fel responsible for what we create. The samples are now all up on boards and I believe Giles may have assessed them over the weekend. I can't wait to start sewing our trims and embellishment onto the final garments. I also learnt Katy Grand editor of LOVE magazine produces the looks for Giles shows. I have a new found love of the area surrounding my studio it really is such a creative artistic area. 4 weeks to go till 21st which is his show!!xxx

more giles stuff

finally finished my sample for Giles yayaya.we were all told at the end of the day tht our standards are excellent.hope that includes me! ummm oh and went round the whole room photographing boards. Discovered a really lovely place to go eat can even bring your own food in there lit up by candles and all cushiony and relaxed with pastrys to die for mmmmmmmmm. p.s. oh my lord he has so mnay swaroski crystals i could have a bath in them. So shiny nd sparkly ooh

day 4 & 5

day 4

cut out flower shapes from material to go on black swimming hats glued them into flower form for them to then be beaded and stitched by someone else. this was after a while very back aching (as we sit on stools doesnt help) and the studio is very cold too. A very menontanous task but we finished quicker than expected.

day 5

Went to the big yellow storage to take back dresses and find a jacket from a previous collection. Also looked for vintage swimming hat there. Got back to studio and helped move all the furniture about to make space for fashion photo shoot for wednesday ( day off due to photo shoot). Then i cracked on with my beading and thread weaving sample. Which by the end of day had completed it to siobhan's satisfaction. We all left our samples on display on the table ..perhaps Giles will take a look at them. A good day and I was much warmer due to my layering and finally being moved down nearer a plug in heater.

n.b. must buy a monthly travel card will be cheaper.

2nd day at Giles

hurrah! sewing at last. I was shown an image of some beading and had to replicate it although I could decide on colours and I could replicate it differently to the process used in the picture. I got an embroidery hoop and some 'swaroski' crystals...of which he has oodles and began sewing away. I got 2 different peoples advice which made it a little confusing as to who to listen to. The day was broken up by taking 2 dresses to Rellik in westbourne park a £6.60 train fare away!  I  will continue with my sample on monday as i never completed it. takes trial and error to get these things right. Oh saw Giles in person too down the other end of the studio he seems nice and just gets on with it. he doesn't create a big atmosphere how other designers do which is refreshing.

DAY 1 at GILES DEACON

sorted research into different sections..illustrations, research, design
took bus with 2 other girls to tHE Yellow Self Storage in Bethnal Green and sorted out Giles's collections from 2005 to present day. Very grubby and dirty cold place but it was nice to see all his collections shame they aren;t kept somewhere else though I do worry at the state of his oldest collections possibly it's too damp and dusty in there to store clothes. Had to find a velvet scrunched vintage cape in there too.
Everyone seems lovely and the studio seems very calm at the moment.
Finished at 6.30.
No offer of travel expenses and talking to the others seems they aren't getting help for it either.
Overall not a bad start hopefully I'll be doing more sewing soon.
